How to Sprout Seeds & Planting in Tubes

Supplies

• Ziploc bag
• Choice of seeds (for this project we chose Jack be Little Pumpkin Seeds
• Plate
• Cardboard tubes from a paper towel roll or toilet paper roll
• Ruler
• Marker or pen
• Scissors
• Spray bottle with water

Directions

1. Measure and mark where you what to cut the roll
2. Cut roll
3. Place tubes in plastic container
4. Moisten tubes with spray bottle
5. Add soil. (Tip: use a paper plate to slide the soil into and fill the tubes. Leave some room to add seed and
   top with soil.)
6. Thoroughly moisten soil with spray bottle
7. Make space for the seed by moving soil with a small straw or chopstick or your finger
8. Use your fingers, or tweezers to gently place seed in the soil
9. Cover the seed with soil
10. Repeat with remaining tubes
11. Mist tubes and cover with plastic.
